# Generating a token which is only 37 characters

I am trying to create a new token, however it is generating token which is only 37 characters instead of 40

Can you produce the minimum code fragment? Be careful not to write any tokens.

HF tokens don’t seem to have a fixed length. They’re **generally around 34 to 40 characters**. [To verify whether a token is valid, using `whoami-v2` is the most reliable method](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/72289714/how-to-validate-hugging-face-organization-token/72297034).
