# Free models using API

I’ve just gotten started with Hugging Face and I got this error message with my free account.

“{‘error’: ‘Model requires a Pro subscription; check out [Hugging Face – Pricing](http://hf.co/pricing) to learn more. Make sure to include your HF token in your query.’}”

How can I tell which models I can use with my free account? Do I need to just try them to see if I get an error message or are they flagged as free somehow? Or is there a list of models that can be used with a free account through the api?

We’ll release some docs on this soon. At the moment, only Llama 2 chat models require PRO.

ChatGPT 4.0 mini and 4.1 mini are free via API call. How ever they only do a few replies per minute or something like that.
